Animu Model

Here's the progress as of 4:30pm today;


It's not as difficult as I thought it would be, it just takes a really long time to get it done without the practice and know how to do it faster.

Render Messups and pre-deadline update.

After learning that it was taking 24 minutes to render single frames of my scene even with the render farm up, I was forced into rethinking how I was going to render my scene.
Currently the issue's been fixed and I'm now on target to finish this project up some time this Friday.
However, I still need to do one or two small things in After Effects, do all the compositing and sound work and a few more small tasks, but I'm not particularly scared by those prospects as the tasks are all menial at best and will give me something to do tomorrow.

In the mean time, have one of the shots that managed to render;



Note how the sky isn't lit. I forgot to update the camera connections for the sun and sky in this shot, so it looks very strange. I fixed that issue with all the other scenes, though, so it shouldn't be a big problem.

If anything I'm just mildly upset that the quality of my scene's textures won't be as nice in the final film as they are in this particular screenshot, but I guess it's a price I have to pay for overloading the scene with geometry.

None of the animation is perfect, and some of it jerks in all the wrong places, but I'm still proud I managed to get it all done.

I took a 2 week break for christmas and new year, but I'm still on schedule!

There's a lot more that I've done, but I saved over most of the files, so I'll just upload the final tests of those next week.

animation tests

Here's this week's animation.
Some of the videos have come out really small for some weird reason, but everything should still be visible.
I hope.

I spent a bit of extra time trying to get the stumble to look right, so this was purely to test that out. I'm thinking of redoing the animation from scratch, though, so I'll probably leave this file alone after this point.

I merged scene 9 into scene 8, so it flows a lot better now.

Light test

Took a quick screenshot of the scene with some really basic lights to get an idea of how it would work. I tried to give it a really orange-y colour to emulate that kind of street-light effect that you get in cities and towns. I'm not sure how to get the decay to look right though, so I'll mess around with it a bit more before I'm 100% pleased with it.
